Religious Education

Religious education is a lifelong journey and lies at the very heart of all learning at Holy Saviour School. Our faith shapes the way we teach, the way we learn and the way we see the world. It is woven throughout the curriculum and into the daily life of the school. Through meaningful prayer, participation in the Melkite liturgy and engagement with the Church’s celebration of the liturgical year, students develop a rich and authentic experience of faith.

A distinctive feature of Holy Saviour School, as a congregational Catholic school, is the strong and natural connection we share with our parish community. We are a school where the parish family is nurtured and celebrated. We recognise parents as the first educators of their children, and we believe that home and school are united in the shared mission of nurturing a child’s faith. Parents are warmly encouraged to be active partners in their child’s learning, and many join us each Friday for the Divine Liturgy, strengthening the bond between school, family and parish.

The home is the place where the seeds of faith are first planted, and the parish community is where this faith continues to grow, flourish and mature. Working together with families and the parish, Holy Saviour School strives to support children in developing a strong, living relationship with God.

Religious Education is experienced in a variety of meaningful and age-appropriate ways. Through the "God With Us" Melkite Catholic program, students develop knowledge, understanding, skills and values that deepen their connection to the teachings and traditions of the Church. In addition to classroom learning, students participate in prayer, liturgical celebrations, reflection days, retreats and community service opportunities. They also have the chance to be involved in the school-based Sacramental Program, supporting their ongoing spiritual growth and development.

At Holy Saviour School, Religious Education is not simply a subject, it is a lived experience that helps shape the hearts, minds and spirits of our students.
